Creative Minds Microschool began with a question that has guided our journey from the start: What if education could truly honor each child’s unique potential?
Dr. Lisa Swinson, after 28 years in education, had witnessed firsthand how traditional classroom environments often struggled to meet the diverse needs of individual learners. She saw talented students disengage when not challenged appropriately. She observed how standardized approaches left little room for curiosity and exploration. And she recognized that for many families, finding an educational environment that nurtured both academic excellence and joyful learning seemed impossible.
Rather than accepting these limitations, Dr. Swinson envisioned a different approach – a learning community where personalization wasn’t just a buzzword but the foundation of everything. Where project-based learning would connect academic concepts to real-world applications. Where small class sizes would ensure every child was truly seen and heard.
Creative Minds Microschool was born from this vision in 2020, opening its doors to families seeking an alternative to one-size-fits-all education. Starting with just twelve students, our approach quickly demonstrated its power to transform learning experiences. Children who had lost their enthusiasm for school rediscovered their natural curiosity. Students who struggled in traditional settings began to thrive when allowed to learn at their own pace and through their own interests.
Today, our growing community continues to be guided by our founding principles: personalized learning pathways, innovative hands-on projects, and a nurturing environment where every child feels valued. Through partnerships with organizations like the VELA Fund, Drexel Fund, and ASU Prep Fellowship, we’ve expanded our resources while staying true to our mission.
